- **Event Name**: Camp for FREE Weekend
- **Event Start and End Date**: Fri, 17 Sep, 2027 at 12:00 pm – Sun, 19 Sep, 2027 at 04:00 pm (-04:00)
- **Event Description**: Come spend an hour, a day, or the entire weekend helping Willoughby Farm Animal Rescue get ready for another Vermont winter, and camp with us for FREE while you’re here.Fall is a beautiful time at the rescue. The nights are getting crisp, the leaves are beginning to change, campfires feel especially good, and a mug of hot apple cider tastes even better after a day spent working outside.Over the years, volunteers have helped us build campsites, tent decks, trails, gathering areas, fencing, and much of the infrastructure that makes camping at the rescue possible. Now we need help taking care of what we have and preparing it for winter.Projects may include winterizing campsites, waterproofing, minor repairs, maintaining fencing, clearing brush and fallen limbs, painting, cleaning animal areas, pitchforking manure, and other maintenance projects throughout our 107-acre property. We may also plant more daffodil bulbs, adding to the thousands planted by volunteers that bloom across the farm each spring. And because this is a farm animal rescue, there will probably be some poop involved. No experience is necessary. Come ready to lend a hand and we will find something you can do.Stay for the whole weekend and enjoy some of the best parts of fall at Willoughby:Crisp evenings, changing leaves, rescued animals, hot apple cider, campfires with old and new friends, and sunset from the Big Sky Tent Deck as we approach the autumn equinox. We’ll also make dinner for our volunteers each evening.Bring your tent and sleeping bag if you’re staying overnight. Work gloves and sturdy boots are strongly recommended.Your time and energy help us protect everything volunteers have helped build here, care for the animals who call Willoughby home, and continue the vision and legacy of Brian J. Stephens, who began this rescue effort.Tickets are FREE, but please register so we know how many volunteers and campers to expect and how many people we’re feeding!
