The chanterelles are finally popping after all this rain, so I’m throwing together a last-minute foraging walk this Sunday at 11:00 AM at Fly Creek Nature Preserve in Fairhope.

We’ll spend a couple hours wandering the woods looking for chanterelles, talking identification, discussing lookalikes, swapping mushroom stories, and nerding out about Gulf Coast ecosystems. We’ll also touch on native and invasive species and ethical foraging practices.

This isn’t a big formal class—just a small group of folks who enjoy mushrooms and don’t mind getting a little muddy.

$15 per person.

You’ll go home with chanterelle identification notes and a better understanding of what to look for when you’re out hunting on your own.

If it’s raining, bring rain boots and a rain jacket. The mushrooms certainly won’t mind, and neither will I. We’ll only cancel if conditions are unsafe.
