Students will learn the basics of working with melted beeswax and pigments, then experiment with techniques such as layering, scraping, and embedding materials. Through playful exploration and collage-based projects—where wax replaces traditional glue—participants will create richly textured surfaces and discover the freedom and versatility of this ancient medium. No prior experience is needed. 
Supply List
$20 SUPPLY FEE. Instructor will provide each student with a SUPPLY KIT to use in the workshop to include: wood substrates, collage materials, and latex-free gloves. Instructor will provide the use of Encaustic medium and pigment, brushes, tools, heat-guns and irons, collage and mark-making materials. OPTIONAL: Students may bring personal items to embed in the wax such as; ephemera, photocopies, fabric, lace, dried flowers, and small metal charms, etc.
