Rich was the founder of the Acoustic Cafe and the visionary that first saw 2926 Fairfield Avenue as a home for live music. More than 20 years before Park City Music Hall opened in 2021, Rich founded a space known across the region as a hub for acoustic/folk artists. Over the years, the Acoustic Cafe began to expand the menu, hosting a wide range of artists and genres and as a result, transformed Black Rock into the music destination it is today.

This took vision, guts, and a whole lot of love. As time passed, Rich had built one of the hippest rooms in the region. If you were coming up as a songwriter or band in those years, you wanted to play the Acoustic Cafe. But the Acoustic was more than just a venue. It was a community of artists, music fans, and crew. Everyone knew each other, everyone supported each other. And everyone that was part of that community was made better by Rich’s example and mentorship. 
We are deeply honored to continue the legacy he began in this room as Park City Music Hall. Simply put, we would not be here without Rich. We strive everyday to live up to that legacy, especially his willingness to open his stage to young, emerging artists to hone their craft. Rich gave opportunities for young people to perform that they would never have otherwise had. It cannot be overstated how vital this was and continues to be to ensure the longevity of this stage. 

On Tuesday night, we will pay tribute to Rich. It is deeply meaningful that the celebration should take place on a Tuesday, the traditional Open Mic Night evening that acted as a weekly gathering for the Acoustic family. Acoustic alums will play songs and tell stories to celebrate the man that created more than just a venue. 

Anyone who knew and loved Rich is welcome. Doors at 6pm.
