Elephant in the Room: "The Golden Years"

Why are the Golden Years called the Golden Years? Around 1960, Amercians started calling the age of 65+ the Golden Years. Some say the Gold refers to "Twice as much to do, on half as much pay." Others call aging the Metallic Years: Gold in the teeth, silver in the hair, and lead in your get up and go. We will meet with coffee and snacks on Thursday, Nov. 13 to have a discussion of what it means to be close to God, to have a purpose during your Golden Years.
