Event information

The EPSRC Postgraduate Entrepreneur Programme aims to equip participants with the tools, techniques and approaches to support and enable entrepreneurial behaviour.

They will learn to communicate and network with non-academics and have the self-confidence and ability to see industrial opportunities.

Attending this programme will raise awareness of the markets in which the participants skills can be applied, and support them to demonstrate the competencies required if they wish work towards becoming a Chartered Engineer and Chartered Physicist in future.

Topics covered include:

How to open a conversation

How to think like an entrepreneur

Using Conceptual Models to explore career opportunities

Communication, listening and networking skills

What IP has been generated and how should you protect it?

This programme is comprised of two sessions. Firstly, a fast paced day-long introduction to the knowledge, skills and attributes necessary for a successful career creating meaningful impact as an innovative researcher. Following this, the second session will consolidate the learning and help participants to maintain momentum, share the learning and plan for the future.

The introductory event and the subsequent activities participants will engage with will allow participants to identify how they can cope and then thrive in entrepreneurial situations, particularly those involving uncertainty, ambiguity and confusion.

Engaging with these days and the resources that their offering will help you to take control of your careers, and place attendees in the position where attendees can make informed choices about other pathways they may like to follow, both within and/or outside of academia.

Programme participants have the opportunity to access supporting materials before, during and after the programme on a bespoke Virtual Learning Environment.

Refreshments, lunch and dinner* will be provided.

*Dinner will be provided at the first event on 3 April only.
