British Heart Foundation CPR Training (Exeter)
Event open to Unite Students tenants.
Every year 30,000 people in the UK have an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest, but the survival rate is less than 1 in 10. During a cardiac arrest the heart stops pumping blood around their body and to their brain. The person will fall unconscious, which means they won’t be able to respond to you. They will either stop breathing or won’t breathe normally.
By performing CPR you are taking over the role of their heart and lungs, pumping blood and oxygen around their body. Every second counts – any delay can quickly reduce a person’s chance of survival. And if they do survive, delay can also cause permanent damage to the person’s brain.
Unite Students have teamed up with the Bristish Heart Foundation to provide a free one hour training session, enabling you to confidently carry out CPR if needed. Training will include, how and when to perform CPR on an adult or child, how to put someone in the recovery position and how to use a defibrillator.
Please wear comfortable clothing.
