The first ride will be April 18th at 9am. We will be taking off from South Lake Cycle gathering at 8:30am, taking off at 9am and riding to Victoria and back. 

This once-a-month ride is designed to be fun, welcoming, and beginner-friendly, with an emphasis on building community, learning group riding skills, and enjoying local events and destinations together.

🚴 What to Expect
Casual, social-paced group ride

15–30 miles depending on the route and destination

All experience levels and bike types (road, gravel, mountain, recumbent, E-bikes) welcome

No-drop, supportive environment

Monthly rides with local festivals, events, or fun destinations as our middle or endpoint

Whether you’re newer to cycling, getting back into riding, or just looking for a relaxed group to ride with—this ride is for you.

📍 Introductory Meet & Bike Check
Before our first ride, we’ll be hosting an introductory meeting at South Lake Cycle on April 16th at 6:30pm where you can:

Get a basic eyeball bike fit

Learn about common bike maintenance and tune-up essentials

Ask questions about equipment, comfort, and ride readiness

Meet the group and learn what to expect on ride day

No pressure, just education and support to help you feel confident heading into the season.

🛑 Group Ride Safety & Etiquette Basics
Part of this ride series is helping riders learn the fundamentals of safe group riding. We’ll review and reinforce things like:

Helmets required on all rides

Ride predictably and hold your line

Use hand signals and verbal call-outs (pointing out hazards, calling “car back,” etc.)

No sudden braking or swerving

Ride two-abreast only when appropriate and safe

Be aware of riders around you—this is a group effort

We’ll help guide you through these skills during the ride—no prior group riding experience required.

💬 Why We’re Doing This
Minnesota Movement and South Lake Cycle share the goal of supporting cyclists beyond just equipment or injury care—we want to help build a healthy, connected cycling community. These rides are about movement, confidence, learning, and having fun together.
