It’s Party time at the Palace. Chester the Jester has informed the King that the Queen has given birth to their long awaited first child. It’s a girl, and she is named Aurora. The most lavish celebration is organised, with everyone invited. Well, all except one. Malificent the evil fairy’s invitation had been overlooked – and was she in a foul mood? You’d better believe it! Furious, she gate crashes the party anyway, and declares - On her 16th birthday, Princess Aurora will prick her finger on a spinning wheel and die !!
The King and Queen are horrified! Well, you would be, wouldn’t you? The other fairies tried to overturn the spell, but only managed to reduce the effect to a hundred year’s deep sleep, only to be broken by love’s first kiss. That’s bad enough in itself, right? Who’s going to kiss you, when you’re snoring and you’ve dribbled all over the pillow?
The King and Queen send Princess Aurora to live in a safe house with Dame Dropalot, and Chester, her son, before destroying every spinning wheel they can find, in an effort to avoid the spell. But the wicked Malificent is intent on her revenge. How can she be stopped? Will someone arrive to break the spell? How did those horses get here?
This is a gripping, traditional tale of romance, comedy, and good versus evil, brought up to date with a well-crafted script and original songs written by Gerry Graham, comedy, dance, some unexpected twists and turns, and a generous helping of audience involvement.
