HIKE DETAILS: This is a great doggie hike and another easy one. We may go around 3-4 miles which takes us through aspens, meadows, pines, and we might even see cows!!
CARPOOL: Meet at parking lot A at Charis, in front of the main building by the elk
****HIGHLY recommend that we carpool as this is a TINY parking lot 😊
DEPARTURE FROM CHARIS: We will leave Charis parking lot at 12:30 and
DEPARTURE FROM TRAILHEAD: We will leave from the trailhead parking lot at 1:15 pm
DIRECTIONS/PARKING: Go West on 24 towards Divide. Turn right on County Road 5 at the main light. In 1/2-mile County Road 5 will have a Y in the road, stay to your left. Veer left at the Y onto County Road 51/Cedar Mountain Rd. Go 1-1/2 miles to County Road 511 on the right.
Turn right onto this dirt road and go about 1/2 a mile and you'll see the parking area and gate on the left.
WHAT TO BRING: water and snacks are sufficient.
DOGGIES: Well-behaved dogs are welcome, for this hike dogs can be off leash but bring one just in case!
TRAIL/AREA INFO A few gently rolling ups and downs, but mostly level. The forest is beautiful and full of aspens and birdsong. Cattle roam free here, so close the gates and watch out for cow pie patties!
