The Musical Mountaineers & Friends Bios:

Anastasia Allison (she/her) is a classically trained violinist who has been playing her violin outside for a very long time. As a child, she volunteered for the National Park Service and spent her time performing music at Hopewell Furnace National Historic Site. She moved to WA in 2004 to become a Park Ranger, and she loved patrolling the park with her violin to play music for campers. In 2018, she founded an outdoor gear company called Kula Cloth ®, which is now seen on trails all over the world. When she isn't working or playing music, she enjoys spending time riding her motorcycle with her husband Aaron. They live in the woods in Granite Falls with their three grey cats.

Rose Freeman (she/her) delights in the timeless art of music as a Nationally Certified Teacher of Music andpianist of “The Musical Mountaineers.” She invites students on a personal, intuitive, and creative journey with an approach that fosters connection to their own hearts and the world around them through the practice of music. It’s her delight to deliver a well-rounded education that equips students to arrive at the piano with curiosity, courage, and freedom. In addition to teaching, she enjoys roller blading, hiking from dawn to dusk, and rock climbing with friends.

The Musical Mountaineers, Anastasia and Rose, met in 2017 through a series of serendipitous series of events. The intrepid duo has performed sunrise serenades at over 40 locations from the jagged peaks of the North Cascades to the rugged shores of the Lost Coast. They have been featured on King 5 Evening Magazine, KOMO TV’s Eric’s Heroes, The Everett Herald, Backpacker Magazine, She Explores Podcast, Sierra Club, and the National Parks Conservation Association. Last year, Anastasia and Rose partnered with the Adopt A Stream Foundation to perform concerts at the Northwest Stream Center’s environmental learning facility to benefit their Sustainable Infrastructure Campaign and offer an opportunity for the community to hear the magic of the Musical Mountaineers live.

The pair does not announce their backcountry concerts, choosing to respect Leave No Trace principals and to maintain the purity of the experience. Together their mission is to use the powerful combination of music and the wilderness to bring more love into the world.

Mitch Pittman, cinematographer:
The only thing Mitch likes more than sharing memories of being in the mountains is making new ones. He moved to Seattle eleven years ago to explore the Cascades and hasn’t missed a month of skiing in more than a decade. Mitch worked as a reporter and photographer for KING and KOMO, but in 2018 started his own production company, Sahale Studios, named after his favorite spot in the North Cascades. He is honored to give back through volunteering with Washington’s National Park Fund and supporting other charitable causes that get people outside. You can follow along with his trips at @mitchpittman.
