You'll get to learn the basics with a guided watercolor session, channel your creativity, and take home your art creations as souvenirs of this adventure. Our special guest who will lead the watercolor portion is Maricruz, a current Women Who Explore NM member. This is an excellent beginner skill level watercolor trip!ABOUT THE BACKPACKING TRIP:This is a backpacking trip that will focus on building self-care as women, appreciating our mother nature, hiking through the Gila Wilderness Area, enjoying hot spring soaks, and spending time with other like-minded women. This is open to women over 18 who are looking to add extra self-care or are looking into adding nature to their self-care routine. *** Ladies, sorry, but dogs are not welcome at this event; we want you to be submerged in the experience.IS THIS BEGINNER OR MODERATE LEVEL?This is a moderate-level hiking event, not advised for a first timer, but for experienced hikers on this 7.5-mile hike out-and-back that will take us deep into the Gila Wilderness Area. The first 4 miles are on a maintained trail, and then we have river crossings (throughthe Gila River) until we arrive at our campsite.MEETING LOCATION: Please arrive at the trailhead (33.227025, -108.251442) by 7:45 am. Eat breakfast on the drive.** Deming Walmart or gas stations in Bayard/Silver City (you'd have to drive further) will be the last CONFIRMED place to refuel if you need to.From Las Cruces, the drive to the trailhead is 3 hours and 11 minutes.From Albuquerque, the drive to the trailhead is 5 hours.**The goal is to start hiking by 8:15 am.
