Valve cover racing is coming to the V-Dub Derby. Do you have what it takes to be the winning builder? Well we are gonna find out on September 12!

2 Classes - type 1 air cooled and 8v water cooled

Rules are as follows:

*Cars will be built using an actual valve cover from an air cooled Type 1 VW engine.
*No engines or any form of propulsion except gravity.
*No moving weights/counter weights.
*Wheels can be attached to the car in any manner, but must not extend beyond the front or rear of the valve cover.
*Cars will have at least four wheels, each no more than 8cm in diameter.
*Wheel must have a non-metallic surface contacting the track.
*8 inch maximum overall width.
*valve cover must be stock length 
*Nothing can extend beyond the front of the valve cover.
*10 inch maximum overall height.
*7.5 pound maximum weight 8v, 5.5 pound type 1.

Rules of the track and race are as follows

*The judge's decision is final.
*Valve covers will be clean (no sludge or oil). If the racer drips oil or grease, it is disqualified!
*Each racer will have a name to be used to identify it during races.
*The track will consist of two lanes with each lane being 11 inches wide 
*If a racer (person) interferes with another car, it (they) automatically lose that round.
*If a racer is hampered by a track issue, it will get another run.
*If there is a tech issue, the judge's decision is final

The track:

1. Track has two lanes, each 11 inches wide (give or take a 1/4)
2. Track will start at 4 feet high and go 16 feet in a single diagonal line.
3. At the 8 foot mark and the 16 foot mark there is a joining of two pieces of track. I was going to sand it super smooth, but it seems more fun not too.
4. After the 16 feet of angled track there is no runoff. 
5. The finish line is approximately 15 feet from the start. That includes the entire angled track and two feet of straight track. 
6. Track will be painted plywood.
