Each piece carries its own story, yet together they form a cohesive narrative of movement, heritage, and forgotten history through a myriad of paintings and sculptures gathered from across Europe, Africa, and the many places that have shaped Dr. Warnke’s life.Growing up in South America gave Dr. Warnke an instinct for color, texture, and symbolism. The vibrancy of Latin American artistic traditions appears in bold palettes, organic forms, and works that celebrate everyday life with emotional intensity. With a heritage based in Tinos, Greece—a place celebrated for producing some of the greatest modern sculptors — Dr. Warnke carries reverence for craftsmanship and figures that balance strength and serenity. Pieces from Europe reflect a range of artistic movements, from modernist experimentation to religious iconography, and contemporary interpretations of identity and place. Ancestry and community are expressed through painting, sculpture, and folk traditions in Bengali pieces and works from West Africa.A tour around the world, Dr. Warnke is pleased to share her appreciation for rich materials and storytelling through this dynamic collection.Thursday, May 7 | Lauren Penneys & Nick Potter (Kalorama, DC)Lauren Penneys and Nick Potter are thrilled to welcome you into their home to enjoy their art collection (and maybe a visit from a pup). As a native of Miami Beach, Florida, Lauren places emphasis on artists born or practicing there such as Joyce Billet, Roe Etheridge, and Austyn Weiner. While mostly buying pieces they find connection to, Penneys and Potter have created a collection that spans a variety of mediums such as abstract and figure based paintings, and contemporary photography. A focus on contemporary artists brings fresh perspectives and life to their newly renovated home. Work on display tends to carry a through line exploring gender roles with rich color and texture while also incorporating humor and investigating ancestry. Additional artists the hosts love and have in their home include Shai Yehezkelli, Maggie Michael, Summer Wheat, Hassan Hajjaj and Katherine Bernhardt.Thursday, May 14 | Jessica Racine-White & Mark Schneider (Shepherd Park, DC)Contained within the historic walls of Van View, a stately vacation home built in the late 1800s and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, lies the playful and personal contemporary art collection of Jessica Racine-White and Mark Schneider. Drawn from travel, friendships, and artistic exchange, the collection of Jessica and Mark is both personal and evolving. It is presented alongside works from the collection of Herb White, Jessica’s father and founding member of DC Arts Center, whose enthusiasm for art helped shape the family’s appreciation for collecting off-beat and adventurous artists. Together, the collection traces a multigenerational narrative of discovery, connection, and enduring engagement with artists.Sculpture, painting, photography, and art using found objects fills the home with color and texture. Jessica and Mark have surrounded themselves with artists they have befriended from around the world as well as legends of DC art history. Artists include Gene Davis, Joseph White, David Mordini, Pervis Young, Al Carter, Sam Gilliam, John Van Alstine, Roberto Piriz and Martin Touzan. As stewards of the home and collection, Jessica and Mark are delighted to welcome you into their world.Thursday, May 21 | Robert Heggestad (Kalorama, DC)This View in Kalorama features an eclectic and abundant mix of classical & modern artworks and antiques thoughtfully displayed and carefully curated over many decades. The core of Robert Heggestad's collection comprises of a mix of paintings acquired through gallery visits with his dear friend Olga Hirshhorn, African masks, and works by the contemporary American painter Sylvia Schuster. The extensive European, Asian and Pre-Columbian works are presented salon-style in a jewel-toned entertaining space created by British interior designer Anthony P. Browne.Thursday, May 28 | Lauren & Nando Silva-Pinto (Potomac, MD)Lauren and Luis Fernando Silva-Pinto's contemporary collection is reflective of their careers as international journalists and a shared passion for art that began in childhood. Starting at age 10, Fernando would ride his bike to the São Paulo Bienal to experience the latest in contemporary art in the burgeoning international art center. Lauren virtually grew up in the Detroit Institute of Arts, where her mother was a docent for 50 years.Since moving to Washington, DC, they have collected DMV artists such as Tendai Johnson, Luis Silva, Nicole Salimbene and Ruza Spak. International artists include Teresa Esgaio (Lisbon), Patricia Secco (Rio), Candido Portinari (Rio), Aldemir Martins (São Paulo), Marignelli (São Paulo) and Christel Lechner (Germany). A favorite work is a 1955 piece by Huey Lee Smith.BONUS VIEW!Saturday, May 16, 1-3 PM | Joan & Bruce Weber (Silver Spring, MD)*Special Bonus View for Full Series Subscribers*Please note: This Bonus View will take place at 1pm on May 16Bruce and Joan Weber are delighted to host Transformer Collector's View members and their guests in their Silver Spring home to see the works of many celebrated DMV painters, sculptors, digital creators and performance artists.
