Thursday Lates: Celebrating Herstory

Thursday Lates: Celebrating Herstory

Our #NGILates series of events are a great way to enjoy the Gallery after hours, and this month we're celebrating the lives and creativity of women, taking inspiration from our exhibitions '[In]Visible Women: Irish Women Artists from the Archives' and 'Markeivicz: Portraits and Propaganda'.

We're very excited to have DJ duo Tiny Choons with us in the Courtyard, bringing on the tunes until 8pm.

Plus, the Irish Times The Women's Podcast will be joining us, at 6pm, for a live recording of a conversation about Irish women and art. Joining the discussion will be Leah Benson, the Gallery's archivist, and artists Amanda Coogan and Alice Maher who will discuss their practices and experiences surrounding the struggle for female voice in artistry and beyond. A limited number of tickets available at this link: https://bit.ly/2SbVY72

The always brilliant Tropical Popical will be set up in the Courtyard for the night creating nail art inspired by our exhibitions! (Appointments are free, and bookings go live from 2pm on Monday 3 December, so be swift!)

At 5.30pm, take in a festive screening of 'It's a Wonderful Life' in the lecture theatre. Tickets cost €5 and can be booked online at this link: https://bit.ly/2E06V91

At 7pm, we'll have a free performance by Síobhra Quinlan and chamber pop ensemble sfiiinx in the Shaw Room. No booking required.

In the Atrium, female art collective LIT Ladies will be running zine-making workshops throughout the evening. Tickets for this are online now, available here: https://bit.ly/2DSWIKL

Musicians from the Royal Irish Academy of Music will be provide pop-up music performances in the Gallery at various points throughout the evening.

It's also discount day for Friends of the National Gallery in our brilliant shop, with 15% off everything for all members. There's lots for non-members too, as some Irish scarf designers will also be dropping in to discuss their work and to demonstrate how to best wear their very beautiful pieces!

Bites and beverages will be on sale in the Gallery Café and Courtyard until 8pm!

All ages welcome: individuals, families and friends!
