- **Event Description**: Module 4 : Concrete Support in Times of NeedAbout this EventCourse Description: All families need help sometimes – a ride to work when the car breaks down, a hot dinner delivered to the family of a new baby or low-cost health insurance for families who are not covered by employer plans. With support we are better able to handle stressful situations and nurture and provide for our children, even when times are tough. In this course you will learn of ways you can provide welcoming, non-threatening support to families. You will be challenged to think of ways in your own community that you can link families to services and opportunities and to consider ways in which culture and tradition can play into the challenge of doing this. We will also reflect on ways that lack of support, when under stress, can sometimes lead to child maltreatment.Training Outcomes: Attendees will leave this workshop with a better understanding of what concrete support in times of need is and will be able to develop a deeper understanding of how concrete can strengthen families and reduce the likelihood of abuse and neglect. Participants will be able to identify everyday actions to implement in their work to offer families concrete support in times of need and discover ways we can observe and respond to early warning signs of abuse and neglect.
