This is a 100% sight-seeing trip, passing all of London's top landmarks, such as the Cutty Sark, Canary Wharf, Tower Bridge, Tower of London, Bankside and the Globe, St Pauls, South Bank, London Eye, Houses of Parliament, Lambeth Palace, MI6 and many others, all from the seat of a kayak. See London as it is meant to be, from the river! Journey time is a good 3 hours, is with the tidal flow making the trip suitable for all abilities including complete beginners, if you never have paddled a kayak don't worry, this is a physical activity similar to going for a long brisk walk. We will use stable double kayaks with rudders, all kit provided and staffed by professional guides. Although we are travelling with the tidal flow you will need to paddle your kayak and work with your Travel Club paddling partner. Group Meal Incl. Be sure to take note of the instructions you're given to prepare you for the activity. To participate in the water-based activity, you must meet the following prerequisites: • All trips are adults only. Participants must be 18 years old and over; • Be able to swim more than 25 meters unaided; • Have given us a fully completed and signed Client Detail form; • Not be under the influence of alcohol, or any banned substances; • If you are late we are unable to wait for you. In addition you must agree to the following conditions: • Wear your buoyancy aid at all times on and near the water; • Listen to the directions of your guide all times; • Stay with your group; • Wear appropriate clothing for the weather conditions and closed toe footwear with a good grip, such as training shoes. Sandals/ flip flops are completely not suitable What to bring Bring comfortable clothes to paddle in, dress for the weather including a pair of training shoes you don't mind getting muddy. Bring a light snack to keep your energy levels up and a bottle of water to stay hydrated. The instructors will supply all equipment including good quality waterproofs. Also, bring a complete change of clothes. You have a baggage allowance of 25 litres per person (small rucksack or carry bag), your bags will go inside a watertight compartment in the kayak and stays 100% dry. Bags must be compressible, no suitcases. Safety The kayak trip is staffed by professional kayak guides who have a minimum of five years experience working on the Tidal Thames. They use stable double kayaks with enclosed cockpits and equipped with rudders. This design of kayak has been extensively tested on the Thames and all their kayaks are also licenced by the The Port of London. The river is a busy environment with associated river traffic and strong tidal flow; the guides will keep you out of harms way so you can enjoy the river and it’s stunning surroundings. NB Participation in a recreational sporting activity always involves some degree of risk that you assume under the law. These are “inherent” risks. Co-participants in the sporting activity, including participants, coaches and facility owners or operators, owe you no duty to protect you from the “inherent” risks in the sport, even if they were negligent. We strongly recommend you do a Lateral Flow Test on the day of the trip. The rules on this may have relaxed, but it is a useful precaution! We kindly ask you to WEAR A FACE COVERING when indoors and on transport. Please aim to arrive at least 10-15mins early, we cannot hold the rest of the group for latecomers!
