JILLIAN CHRISTMAS serves as Artistic Director of Versəs Festival of Words. Jillian is an enthusiastic organizer and activist in the Canadian arts community, her focus being to increase anti-oppression initiatives in spoken word. She has participated in, developed and executed programs in partnership with Toronto Poetry Project, Wordplay, Brendan McLeod's Travelling Slam, University of British Columbia, Vancouver Opera, and the CULTCH Mentorship, and facilitated spoken word workshops for youth and adults across the country
Since getting her start as a champion youth slam poet in the Bay Area, LUCIA MISCH has performed at events across North America that range from literary festivals to labour union conventions, from showcases in ornate theatres to house shows in someone's basement. A veteran arts educator, Lucia is committed to helping young people step into their creative, personal, and political power through writing. She facilitates spoken word workshops in and out of the classroom as a member of WordPlay: Poetry In Schools, an ArtStarts Poet in Residence, and a teaching artist at summer camps up and down the west coast.
"The future of poetry is safe, and dangerous, thanks to Lucia Misch." ~Robert Priest
Jillian and Lucia currently live on the unceded territory of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh people (colonially known as Vancouver).
