An inventor, mathematician, computer scientist, and above all, a brilliant mind, he began his work at the United States Department of Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) and worked extensively on Internet-related data packet and security technologies. 

His work earned him the National Medal of Technology, the Turing Award, the Presidential Medal of Freedom, and several other notable awards. He has since then contributed majorly to global policy development and the continued spread of the internet.
