Heartbeat work is a gateway to our emotional world which we dive into with the instincts of a dancer, the mindfulness of a meditator, the courage of a warrior, and the compassion of a best friend. 

In this work we don’t solve our feelings as if they were problems, rather we explore our emotions as energy, as power, as part of being human. Through physical movement and awareness, old feelings that have been locked in our limbs or caged in our chest begin to shake loose; we give ourselves space and time to consciously embody them and allow them to move as waves of energy through our body . 

As we get comfortable with our vulnerability and feelings, neither hanging onto them nor pushing them away, we discover a treasure (in the) chest, which, once unlocked, offers a world rich with opportunities: a real connection with ourselves and others, a freshness of response, a spontaneity seasoned with wisdom and experience, and above all, a freedom to fully become a loving force of life itself.

Silvija Tomčik is an accredited 5Rhythms® Teacher (Waves (2001) and Heartbeat (2010) level). She teaches weekend and residential workshops around the world. She is known for her grounded embodiment, clear leadership, vivid imagination, great variety of music, blending humour with wisdom, and her love for the freedom of being in the body to prompt people to discover their personal dance and healing movement.

Prerequisites: 15 hours of Waves classes or 1 weekend workshop with 5Rhythms® accredited teacher.

This workshop counts as 3 days of Heartbeat Level towards the 5R Teacher Training.

Teaching will be in English.

Silvija Tomčik first encountered Gabrielle Roth’s teachings in 1995 through her book, Maps to Ecstasy. That discovery lit a fire that has never gone out. Soon after, she began bringing 5Rhythms® to Croatia, Slovenia, and neighbouring countries, planting seeds of a practice that has since touched many lives.

At that time she was active in Antiwar Campaign Croatia, co-founded Volunteer’s Center and worked in Centre for Peace Studies.

Trained by Gabrielle in the Waves (2001) and Heartbeat (2010) levels, Silvija was a core member of the 5Rhythms Teacher Training Staff with Jonathan Horan from 2013 to 2020.

Over the years, she has offered the full spectrum of teachings — from weekly classes to ongoing groups, from local classes to international journeys, and from weekend workshops to five-day retreats. She creates dedicated workshops for 5Rhythms teachers, mentors teachers on their path, and continues to expand her reach through online offerings.

In 2018, she published WAVES: Voice and Vision, a book created in collaboration with 20 artists.
