There are two theories about why Halloween is celebrated that people believe in. One is that it originated from the ancient Celtic Festival of Samhain. Celts believed it was the day when the boundary between living and dead was blurred! Later, it started getting associated with All Saints' Eve, a day on which Christians remember and honor the dead.

Costumes typically depict creatures like zombies, vampires, werewolves, ghosts, skeletons, witches, goblins, trolls, devils, etc.; more recently, science fiction-inspired characters like superheroes and aliens have also been popular.
