Film night: “The Ukrainians of Donbass” Ruslan Horovyi and Q&A session

We invite you all to see the latest documentary film about the ongoing conflict in east Ukraine “The Ukrainians of Donbass” which takes place on 15th March 2016 at the St Andrews building room 227a/b. This screening will be followed by Q&A with film director Ruslan Gorovyi, so you would get an opportunity to ask questions.

The documentary provides an insight into the life of a civilian family in the East of Ukraine. This is the film about war, occupation, life choices, imprisonment and liberation. And, of course, it’s about love. “The film characters are very close to my heart, particularly, because I lived in Donbass when I was a young adult; and also, since the beginning of war in 2014, I spent more time there than in my present home town Konotop” says Ruslan.

Ruslan Gorovyi is a well-known Ukrainian journalist, documentary film director, novelist and activist of the Ukrainian volunteers movement. In 2008 he was awarded National journalist of Ukraine, and in 2014 his book was nominated for BBC book of the year award.

Directed by: Ruslan Gorovyi
Runtime: 50 minutes
Country: Ukraine
Language: original (Russian and Ukrainian), dubbed in English
Entry: £5

All the best,
CEES society, AUGB and GU Ukrainian Society
