Chinese New Year will be celebrated from February 10 until February 22,
The Chinese New Year, also known as Lunar New Year, is an annual 15-day
celebration observed in China and Chinese communities globally. It commences
with the arrival of the new moon, falling between January 21 and February 20
by Western calendars, and the festivities continue until the subsequent full
moon in the participating countries. The cities are painted red and golden,
and people participate in parades and ceremonies and enjoy dinner with their
loved ones to celebrate the Year of the Dragon.
Usually Chinese New Year festival period lasts for 16 days, starting from
Chinese New Year's Eve to the Lantern Festival. Although in 2024, it begins
from February 10th to 22nd.
According to the Chinese zodiac, 2024 is the Year of the Dragon.
As 2024 is the Year of the Dragon. Chinese will often greet with: "New Year
Eight are recognized as lucky in Chinese culture, and many Chinese dinners
consist of eight courses. Eating long beans and uncut noodles symbolizes
longevity; tangerines and pomelos are thought to bring luck and fortune.
Other dishes include a glazed duck representing happiness or a whole fish to
bring good fortune. Sweet rice balls are usually consumed on the fifteenth
day of the celebrations as a sign of unity.
The best part of the festival is the beautiful dragon and lion extensive
performances in parades to attract good luck, wisdom, and long life. The New
Year ends with an enchanting lantern festival that all eagerly awaits.
