Led by distinguished pianist Toumbas, the group performs arrangements from the Post-bop era, as well as compositions by great jazz composers such as Clifford Brown, Wayne Shorter, Chick Corea and Joey Calderazzo. Some original music by Toumbas is also included in their repertoire. Marios Charalampous is a Cypriot saxophonist and composer based in Amsterdam. He completed both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. In 2020, he founded the Marios Charalampous Quartet, an international ensemble that was awarded 2nd Prize at the Keep an Eye International Jazz Competition in 2022. As a bandleader and sideman, he has performed throughout Europe and has appeared on several recordings. He has performed with the WDR Big Band and was featured as a soloist with the Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw, presenting his own music.
