In this first workshop, we will dive into Birnam Wood, the gripping story of guerrilla gardening resistance to a tech billionaire by New Zealand author Eleanor Catton. Together, we’ll explore the novel’s story, characters and ideas using extracts - no need to read it in advance. Then you'll get a chance to respond yourself, with fun and non-intimidating creative writing exercises. We'll also be looking at poetry from other Commonwealth countries. Whether you are an avid reader or an aspiring writer, all experience levels are welcome! ABOUT THE TUTOR Jackie is a down-to-earth, friendly, experienced writer and tutor; MA in Screenwriting; writer of award-winning film El Greco, plus many other film, TV and radio productions; professional script development, editing and polishing; drama commissioning and development, BBC TV; online tutor, teens 11-19 years in English Literature and Creative Writing. In all our writing sessions so far, she has inspired all of her students to let their imaginations fly free!
