SHOW DATES: September 18th-20th & 25th-27th Friday-Saturday @ 7:30PM & Sunday @ 2:00PM Tech and dress rehearsals will begin the weekend of September 12th- through September 17th. Strike will be on September 27th immediately following the show. Attendance is required for these dates. CONTENT WARNING: This show contains discussions of mental illness, trauma, grief, recreational & medical drug use, suicidal ideation, and psychiatric intervention. WHAT TO BRING TO AUDITIONS: Please come prepared to list all dates and times that you will be unavailable for rehearsals from the day of your audition through September 27th. This includes but is not limited to known work schedules and obligations for any other productions you may be taking part in. ​ Please bring a song of your choice of 32 bars or no more than 2 minutes. We will provide a Bluetooth speaker. When you arrive, you will be asked to send your song to a person on the production team. WHAT TO EXPECT AT AUDITIONS: We will start off with an introduction & filling out audition forms. If you want to fill out one early, please feel free to do so on our audition page on evvcivic.org. Please write in print. ​ We will run through everyone's songs We will do some basic movement exercises We may have you read a monologue or side ABOUT THE MUSICAL: Dad's an architect; Mom rushes to pack lunches and pour cereal; their daughter and son are bright, wise-cracking teens, appearing to be a typical American family. And yet their lives are anything but normal because the mother has been battling bipolar disorder for 16 years. Next to Normal takes audiences into the minds and hearts of each character, presenting their family's story with love, sympathy and heart. CHARACTERS: The cast will consist of up to 7 actors (depending on casting for the doctors) AVAILABLE ROLES: Character breakdown from MTI . Age Ranges are not a deterrent and can be flexible for casting purposes. Diana: (late 30s-50s) Delusional, bipolar, and depressed.The sexiness of her yesterdays has only recently begun to soften. She is determined to make her family perfect but is tortured by a death in the family. Gender: Female presenting Vocal Range top: F#5 Dan:(late 30s-50s) Diana's husband. He is handsome and genuine. Though a constant in Diana's tumultuous life, he has grown tired and weary of her antics. Gender: Male presenting Vocal range top: B4 Vocal range bottom: Ab2 Gabe: (18-20s) Diana & Dan's son. Dashing, athletic, and bright.He is a playful man and everything a mother could imagine. An accomplished pianist and hardworking student, her struggles are exacerbated by her mother's behavior. She greatly admires Henry.
