- **Event Name**: Talks@EHC: Blanche Gildin: The Bauhaus in Chicago and the Foundations of an Artistic Practice
- **Event Start and End Date**: Tue, 24 Mar, 2026 at 06:30 pm
- **Event Description**: Blanche Gildin (1928-2024) was an Evanston-based artist whose studies at Chicago’s Institute of Design from 1947 to 1949 shaped her artistic practice across more than seven decades. Like many women artists of her generation, she worked in private, guided less by recognition than by curiosity and discipline. Dr. Lara Allison from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and author of the just-published catalog Blanche Gildin: Back to the Bauhaus will discuss Gildin, her work, and the New Bauhaus movement at the Institute of Design with the artist's daughter, Bonny Gildin and Jack Weiss of Design Evanston, who also studied at the Institute of Design. Three of Gildin's works–recently accessioned into the Evanston History Center's permanent art collection–will be on view.

This IN PERSON event will take place at the Evanston History Cener, 225 Greenwood St. PLEASE RSVP at: https://evanstonhistorycenter.org/event/talksehc-blanche-gildin-the-bauhaus-in-chicago-and-the-foundations-of-an-artistic-practice/
