Lag b'Omer Fire!!

Maybe it was that a plague that killed 10,000 of Rabbi Akiva's students stopped. Maybe the Yidden just wanted a day to get married during the counting of the Omer (traditionally there are no weddings during the 49 days of counting ther Omer). Maybe it was something else.

Whatever the reason, the 33rd day of the Omer is considered a joyous festival. And joy is my favorite form of resistance to oppression. So, on the 33rd day, or Friday, May 16th we will gather in joy. FYI, friday noght is when the 33rd day is over, but we will meet before sunset to celebrate as Lag b'Omer wanes. Then, we'll sing for Shabbos. All around the campfire.

Bonfires are a Lag b'Omer tradition. So bring your marshmallows and weiners to roast, if you like. Or a picnic dinner. Grape juice and challah will be provided.

And your kiddie bows and arrows. Archery is another tradition of the day. And since we don't want to put holes in anyone, we will shoot boffer or suction cup arrows. Maybe there will be other Lag b'Omer activities. Who knows?!
