What the Heck Is a Junk Journal?
You’ve maybe heard the term junk journal tossed around… but what is it, really?
A junk journal is a beautifully imperfect mix of scrapbooking, collage, memory-keeping, art, and storytelling — and the best part?
It can be whatever you want it to be.
There are no rules. No “right” way. Just creativity, curiosity, and a little bit of delightful mess.
Some people create junk journals with a spread for each month of the year.
Others build theirs around art themes, florals, or color palettes they love.
Many use a junk journal as a home for all those little treasures you can’t bear to throw away:
train or plane tickets
concert stubs and show programs
matchbook covers
cocktail napkins
baggage claim tags
travel maps and notes
You know — all the bits and bobs that hold memories but don’t quite have a place.
Your junk journal could be inspired by:
favorite recipes or restaurants
a beloved pet
your children’s notes, drawings, or tiny keepsakes
trips, seasons, moods, or moments

Junk Journal Intro Class
Our Intro to Junk Journaling class runs from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM and is designed to get you started — no experience required.
You can:
bring your own journal,
create a cover from our “found junk,” or
purchase a pre-made blank spiral journal, ready to be junked up with your treasures.
We’ll provide ephemera, supplies, and plenty of creative goodness to play with. The goal isn’t perfection — it’s exploration, experimentation, and starting your own junk journal journey.
And this is just the beginning. We’re hoping to host future gatherings with your fellow junk journal classmates — a chance to show off your work, swap ideas, share materials, and spend more time creating together.
