We’re continuing this tradition and invite Coraki locals to meet at Riverside Park and have your portrait captured by local photographer Elise Derwin. Come along by yourself, with family or friends, to be photographed by or on the river, adding to a living archive of people gathering ‘where the waters meet’.

On the day share the experience of group portraiture with others, share stories and contribute to an environmental history of Coraki, preserving valuable community memory.

Richmond River was once an ‘abundant source of food’, in Ruby Langford Ginibi’s words. How the river and environment have changed is best understood by locals. Community knowledge and lived experience are a valuable resource, not just for recording history but shaping the future.

Living Memory Coraki is a Living Lab Northern Rivers project, supported by NSW Reconstruction Authority, Southern Cross University and University of Technology Sydney. This event is part of Richmond RiverKeeper Riverfest ’25.
