Ferndale Repertory Theatre is holding auditions for The Wizard of Oz on August 26 and 27. This is the Royal Shakespeare Company’s stage adaptation of the beloved 1939 MGM film — a faithful version that brings the magic of the movie to life on stage. You’ll hear the unforgettable score by Harold Arlen (music) and E.Y. Harburg (lyrics), experience the classic story as adapted by John Kane for the RSC, and enjoy additional background music by Herbert Stothart — all woven together to recreate the charm, humor, and heart of the timeless film.

When + Where
Auditions are at United Congregational Church, 900 Hodgson Street in Eureka, CA. Callbacks may be held if needed. Please attend one or both nights—choose the audition type that best suits you!
Tuesday, August 26 at 6:30 PM – Prepared Auditions
Bring up to one minute of a musical theatre song (your choice) that showcases your singing and storytelling. There will not be an accompanist present, so please bring a backing track (Bluetooth device available) or be prepared to sing a cappella. Includes a short movement section and cold readings from the script.
Wednesday, August 27 at 6:30 PM – Come-As-You-Are Auditions
No preparation needed! The music director and accompanist will teach you a song from the show. Includes a short movement section and cold readings from the script.
Please be prepared to fill out a conflict sheet at auditions (please be specific about scheduling conflicts throughout the rehearsal period).

All levels of performers: first-timers, experienced actors, young performers (ages 8–17), and families ready to shine together. Nervous or hesitant to audition? Read this letter from our director!

Rehearsal Schedule
- Start Date: Monday, September 8, 2025
- General Schedule: Monday – Friday evenings. Not all cast members will be called for every rehearsal.
- Rehearsals in Eureka: September 8 – October 30, 2025
- Rehearsals in Ferndale: November 3 – November 20, 2025
Adult Cast: Typical call time: 6:30 – 9:30 PM
Young Performer Ensemble (ages 8–17): Typical call time: 6:00 – 7:30 PM. Once we move to Ferndale young performers may be called later—up to 9:30 PM—for select rehearsals.
Production Dates
November 21 – December 22, 2025 (5 weekend run)
Fridays at 7:30 PM | Saturdays and Sundays at 2:00 PM
