This is in celebration of Our Community Folk Choir's summer singing series!About this EventJoin us for a joyous afternoon of singing and snacking! We gather together to sing in the summertime to honor the cycles of life within and outside ourselves. This afternoon in late July we will be inside (bc it will probably be very hot outside) with our whole selves and our authentic voices. We will sing easy to learn songs in community that Our Community Folk Choir have been singing this summer and celebrate! (You don't have to be involved in the choir to attend - you are welcome!!) Singing:Our singing is based on the philosphy that ALL PEOPLE CAN SING! We do not judge our voices based on the typical standards of what is "beautiful" or "right" - we come together to overthrow the colonization of our voices and to rebel against the idea that music is only for "performance." NO! Music is for US ALL! Regardless of skill, experience or anything that comes between ourselves and our voices. We sing songs that empower and support a sense of true self-worth and connection. We weclome all faith traditions and although some songs are based in Earth spirituality, we are a secular community and not at all religious.Snacking:We love to snack! Bring a snack to share if it is joyous and easy! Snacking is not required to participate in singing!Childcare:This event is all ages and includes a kids area and childcare! Children are welcome to join us in song as their whole selves. Parents are required to care for their children's bodily needs (potty & food) but they will have a lot of help from our childcare team!ReciprocityWe are asking for $15 - 30 donation to attend the event. This helps offset childcare and venue costs.
