Panelists include:

Ibrahim Coulibaly is a dedicated advocate and community leader, originally from Burkina Faso, who has committed his life to justice, equity, and inclusion in Oregon. He is a Senior Civil Rights Investigator with the Bureau of Labor and Industries and President of SEIU 839 and served as the former President of the Eugene-Springfield NAACP. With a background in healthcare and nonprofit work, he understands the challenges faced by various communities, including immigrants and marginalized groups. 

Demond Hawkins is currently serving as the President of the Eugene Springfield NAACP and holds the position of Senior Health Equity Specialist at Trillium Community Health Plan. As a Senior Health Equity Specialist, Demond collaborates with diverse stakeholders to identify and address disparities in care and outcomes. He is particularly passionate about promoting diversity, health equity, and inclusion, as well as recognizing and dismantling systemic barriers associated with racism. 

Jenny Jonak is a Korean-American attorney who is a member of the Council of Korean Americans and serves on the Board of the Asian American Council of Oregon.  She is also a member of the Eugene 4J School Board, the Steering Committee for Lane County’s Campaign for Equal Justice, the Lane County Bar Association Diversity Equity and Inclusion Committee, the Board of Plaza de Nuestra Comunidad, and the Friends of Family Farmer’s Legislative Committee.

Guadalupe Quinn has been a dedicated community organizer and advocate for over 35 years, focusing on human rights and social justice, particularly in racial justice, economic justice, and immigrant rights. She has collaborated with numerous organizations, including the City of Eugene Human Rights Commission, NAACP, and CAUSA Oregon. Currently, she continues her work with United For Immigrant Justice and other local groups. She believes that building alliances across communities is essential for achieving meaningful social change.

Rabbi Ruhi Sophia Motzkin Rubenstein is the Rabbi of Eugene’s Temple Beth Israel since 2015. She is an advocate and activist on climate, immigration and LGBTQ+ issues and active in local, regional and national interfaith community building, social justice organizing, and liturgical composition.

This event is sponsored by Temple Beth Israel’s Racial Justice, Sanctuary, and Tikkun Olam committees and TBI Sisterhood.

The synagogue is equipped with a hearing loop.
