Step into the cafés of 1930’s Paris without ever leaving Northeast Ohio! Forest City Django Club is a five-piece ensemble honoring the timeless music of Django Reinhardt and the Hot Club of France. From jazz manouche classics to sultry chansons from vocalist Kara Scott – you won’t want to miss this unique and vibrant show.
Gypsy jazz, pioneered in the 1930s by Django Reinhardt and Stéphane Grappelli’s Quintet du Hot Club de France, is distinguished by its vibrant acoustic rhythms (la pompe) and virtuosic soloing. The Forest City Django Club brings this timeless style to life in the heart of Cleveland.
Forest City Django Club features: Greg Smith (violin), Max Hyde-Perry (bass), Steve Karla (guitar), Caroline King (accordion), Brad Smedley (guitar), and Special Guest Kara Scott on vocals!
As usual, the ESPC Summer concerts are free and open to the public. Of course, it costs a LOT of money to bring you talented acts such as these, so we kindly ask for cash donations during the break between sets. We also take Venmo, CashApp, and PayPal for your convenience. Every dollar goes to the production of these events - we are an all-volunteer organization.
Weather permitting, there will be food vendors on site, or you may bring your own food and beverages. And lawnchairs! In the event of poor weather, the show will move inside the clubhouse.
