Join us for a discovery journey with selected wines from the region, presented by Mate Gergely, small-scale wine producre from Balaton. 

KétGergely is a tiny winery with a vineyard (0.75 hectare) located on a small hillside on the North side of Lake Balaton, Hungary. This lovely region has a long tradition of winemaking that goes back
to the Celts and Romans. Unfortunately, winemaking has been dying out in the last decades with more and more vineyards changed into empty land to build summer villas having no connection with the local environment and traditions.

The two Gergely brothers, who established this small company, wished to preserve an old vineyard and experiment with natural and creative ways of winemaking. The soil is not ploughed, no
fertilizers are used and spraying is kept to the minimum; natural fermentation is preferred.

“Blanc du Lac / Tavi fehér” from 2023 combines four white grape varieties, namely furmint (a
variety used also in the Tokaj wine region), green veltliner, Italian riesling and úrréti. It got a silver
medal (upper category) at the Badacsony Wine Competition in 2024.
This wine has a dry and full-bodied character with complex fruity tones, balanced acidity and a rich
yellow colour. It goes well with chicken and other white meat, fish and seafood, and Asian meals.
