This fun run/walk is a fundraiser for two funds supporting UAF employees experiencing tough times or family emergencies: 1) the Geophysical Institute Employee Assistance (“GeoCare”) fund, and 2) the Department of Biology and Wildlife/Institute of Arctic Biology’s BioCares fund.

Event: Leaves Out Rocks Out 5K Race
Date: Sunday, April 26, 2026
Time: 1 p.m. start time
Location: Starting and ending at the west Arctic Health parking lot
Cost: $25 for adults, $15 for youth 13-18, free for kids 12 and younger. Minors must be accompanied by an adult.

🍔 There will be a free barbecue after the event for race participants!
🐕 Well-behaved, leashed dogs are welcome to join their owners during the race. Dog waste must be picked up; bags will be provided. Dogs will not be permitted near the barbecue after the race.
🧦 Socks from Conscious Step will be for sale via the registration page! Any socks not sold from registration will be available at the event. Proceeds will benefit GeoCare/BioCares. Choose from a bio-themed bear pair or a geo-themed mountain pair.

Net proceeds will benefit the Geophysical Institute Employee Assistance and BioCares funds, which aid graduate students and employees of the Geophysical Institute, the Department of Biology and Wildlife and the Institute of Arctic Biology. The funds can help cover unexpected expenses up to $1,000.
