Since their formation in 2004, Pinhani is considered to be one of the most extraordinary music bands in Turkey with their unique attitude on and off stage. While they always go above and beyond the expectations, they are not hesitant to go for the unexpected as well. They are the only band in the country that’s been always on the road to play gigs even in the most remote towns with a live-music-craving audience. As a result of that, their music is heavily influenced by different traditions of all these regions, representing the whole country’s music culture. They have been able to successfully merge Turkish instruments into rock music, as well.
Pinhani first came to fame when their songs on the first album became a part of the soundtrack of a very famous TV show. Their second album became a huge hit and also paved the way for sold out shows at important concert venues. While building their fan base by playing live gigs as much as possible, they were constantly producing new music as well. By using traditional tunes and rhythms and turning them something completely new, they have released 6 full length albums and 7 singles to this day. Their most recent album is solely based on the Turkish traditional folk songs (Türkü) emerging from different regions of Turkey.
Sinan Kaynakcı is on vocals and ethnic instruments while Selim Aydın is on bass guitar, Hami Ünlü on drums and Eray Polat on guitars. Pinhani’s musical identity is sculptured by Akın Eldes, one of the most significant guitar players in Turkey. His contributions include performing on stage and producing. What makes Pinhani distinctive is that they are still humble like junior musicians in spite of 15 years on stage while recording albums like decades-old bands with support from veteran musicians. Their setlist is more focused on traditional Turkish music while they are touring outside of Turkey. They are one of the leading bands that’s been representing Turkey’s musical heritage on stage. They have set their sight on introducing Türkü on international stage
