From a foreign-language child to a proficient Finnish speaker; in the context of early childhood, primary and secondary school education; challenges and pathways forward!

Growth and Learning Board members of Espoo City Council and experienced teachers of Finnish schools will be present there as panel members.

The panel explores the multifaceted process of integrating second-language speaking children into Finnish culture and education, with a particular focus on early childhood, primary school, and secondary school education. While Finland offers a strong foundation in inclusive education, linguistic and cultural diversity continues to pose both opportunities and challenges for educators, families, and policymakers. Panelists will discuss key issues such as language acquisition, cultural identity, classroom practices, teacher preparedness, and family engagement. The discussion will highlight not only the challenges faced by children and educators but also innovative strategies, pedagogical approaches, and policy pathways that can foster inclusion, equity, and academic success.
