As the harvest is behind us and the first touch of winter arrives, we gather for Álfablót—a Norse pagan rite traditionally held to honor the álfar (land-spirits) and mark the turning of the season. This year, we will hail Skadi, goddess of the mountains and winter, asking her blessing for a gentle winter, and we will offer rest to the local land-spirits as they settle into their slumber until spring.
Flow of the Day:
2:00–2:45 PM — Arrival & Altar Setup
Place offerings for the land-spirits and Skadi at the outdoor shrine.
3:00 PM — Álfablót Ritual
• Opening words and grounding
• Offerings to Skadi for a kind and balanced winter
• Blessings of thanks and gifts to the land-spirits as they are put to sleep
• Closing hails and shared silence
After Ritual — Potluck Feast & Fellowship
Gather together to share seasonal dishes, warm drinks, and good company. The potluck feast is a time of joy, hospitality, and frith-weaving, where each dish is an offering of community.
For the Potluck Feast, please bring a dish to share (labeled if possible for dietary needs). Drinks, bread, and seasonal treats are especially welcome.
