For most of us canoeing conjures up images of relaxing days spent on lazy rivers - which we readily admit is great! But do you know that canoeing whitewater is a ton of fun, and with the right instruction, you may find yourself having the thrill of a lifetime? This one-day introductory course led by NOLI instructor Viki Austin allows you to do just that! 

Participants will first be introduced to boats, equipment and safety considerations and will be properly outfitted to a whitewater canoe, life jacket (PFD), paddle and helmet. We will then take it to the water to practice the fundamentals, strokes and river maneuvers that will help you safely enjoy a mild whitewater river trip on the class I-II section of the beautiful Nolichucky River, located right out our backdoor.
