This October, Ephrata Area Social Services (EASS) is excited to host a family-friendly benefit event at the Ephrata Elks! The Backyard BBQ Bash brings our community together to raise awareness about food insecurity and hunger right here in Northern Lancaster County.
Why This Event Matters
Food insecurity continues to affect thousands of our neighbors every day. In 2024 alone, there were:
• 15,796 meals delivered through the Meals on Wheels program to individuals in Ephrata and Cocalico
• 15,508 visits to the EASS Food Pantry and Reinholds food distribution
• Nearly one-third of those served were children, and over one-third were seniors
• In Northern Lancaster County, over 30% of individuals served through EASS’s food programs are over the age of 60
• More than 47,000 Lancaster County residents are unsure where their next meal will come from
