- **Event Description**: Alexander Hamilton and Aaron Burr are well known for their intense rivalry that culminated in their infamous duel at Weehawken, NJ in 1805, when Hamilton was mortally wounded. It is not so well known that both were Lieutenant Colonels at the Battle of Monmouth, and they each had their horses shot from under them. This lecture will survey their parallel lives and also discuss their roles at Monmouth.

This program will be presented by award winning author and Friends of Monmouth Battlefield President, Dr. David Martin. Dr. Martin is the author of over 20 books on the Revolutionary War and Civil War, including two award-winning books on Gettysburg. He is also the author of “A Molly Pitcher Sourcebook” (2003),
