The Southern Tier’s beloved holiday tradition returns for its 46th year at the Cider Mill Stage, featuring Chris Nickerson as Ebenezer Scrooge. This cherished production of A Christmas Carol first premiered in December 1979. Created by John Bielenberg and the original 1979 cast, it brings Charles Dickens’s timeless story to life with warmth, heart, and a touch of magic that has captivated generations.
This special sensory-friendly performance offers a theater experience that is welcoming, judgment-free, and inclusive of theater lovers with a wide range of sensory, learning, and physical differences. It is perfect for children and for anyone who may benefit from a more relaxed theatrical environment.
During this performance:
Sound levels will be lowered, especially for startling or loud moments.
House lights will remain on at a low level.
Strobe lighting will be reduced or eliminated, and lighting will be gentler on the audience.
Audience members are free to talk or leave their seats as needed.
A designated quiet area will be available in the lobby.
Staff and volunteers will be trained to be welcoming and accommodating to families’ needs.
All are welcome to attend this performance. Please note that some audience members may make sounds or call out during the show, and this is accepted and embraced. No one will be shushed or made to feel that they or their child do not belong. This performance is designed for those who may need or enjoy a more inclusive and relaxed theater experience—and for everyone who supports that environment.
