IPS e.max CAD: Lab smile design, milling, and modifications - 2 day

Synopsis: Join Simon Caxton for this brand-new 2-day, hands-on masterclass, where he is excited to share with you, his techniques and philosophy for designing a 6-unit anterior smile design case using 3 Shape and IPS e.max CAD, then characterising with IPS e.max Ceram, Ceram Selection and IPS Ivocolor stain and glaze system.

Aims: This 2-day hands-on masterclass aims to provide dental technicians with an increased understanding of how to achieve outstanding aesthetics when designing and manufacturing anterior restorations using IPS e.max CAD.

With a strong focus on CAD design using 3 Shape, scientific information, material preparation, anatomical contouring, advanced stain and glaze and micro layering techniques, this masterclass is designed to equip participants with the advanced knowledge and skills required to implement several new techniques to produce truly world class smile makeovers. Including assessing the case according to Simon's philosophy and what to look for regarding smile design, how to design for best results using 3shape, how to process IPS e.max CAD blocks from blue state to final shade and finally how to cut back and characterise using Ivocolor and IPS e.max Ceram.

Using a combination of micro layering using IPS e.max Ceram, IPS e.max Ceram Selection & Ivocolor stain and glaze system, Simon will guide you step by step and equip you with a wide range of advanced techniques to achieve incredibly beautiful, lifelike aesthetics.

Delegates will work on 6 anterior IPS e.max CAD restorations which you will take with you to use as demonstration pieces.

• Understand the scientific properties, handling characteristics and recommended applications suitable for IPS e.max CAD.
• Understand the scientific properties, handling characteristics and recommended application of Ivocolor stain and glaze system.
• Learn advanced anatomical CAD designs suitable for anterior restorations.
• Block selection, considering the Natural Die
• Understand IPS e.max CAD translucency concept.
• Demonstrate how to prepare restorations by refining both shape and surface texture, to improve the overall surface treatment of all ceramics with a view to recreating the natural surface texture more predictably and efficiently.
• Explain and demonstrate how to use the IPS e.max Ceram and IPS e.max Ceram Selection to add advanced anatomical characteristics and aesthetics to the restorations.
• Explain and demonstrate how to use the Ivocolor stain and glaze system to add natural translucency, character, and depth to the restorations.
• Increase awareness and understanding of firing protocols for using Ivocolor, IPS e.max Ceram and IPS e.max Ceram Selection on all ceramic restorations.
• How to improve the application of external stains to match existing dentition and eliminate shade inaccuracies.
• How to correctly apply glaze pastes, to improve control gloss level.
• Hand polishing for the bespoke aesthetic affect
