Born & raised in Louisiana, Curley started as a drummer playing Louisiana Blues, Soul and Zydeco in his father’s band (Jude Taylor & his Burning Flames) at the age of 16. 
Curley has played drums for some of Louisiana’s legends including Steve Riley, John Hart, and toured with Geno Delafose & French Rockin’ Boogie among others. He was 
travelling with CJ Chenier when he found his interest in playing the accordion. Curley is part of the movement ushering in a new era of zydeco that, in essence, nudges it closer to the music of mainstream America and today’s R&B/hip-hop stable of artists.
