Alternative Firing: Western Raku

This is an alternative firing class done outside in a propane fueled kiln. You will have a huge variety of glaze options and various pottery pieces to choose from. Western Raku is an Americanized version of Japanese Raku. An extreme firing process where the pieces are pulled from the kiln when they are still very hot and placed in a bucket of organic matter and covered. It's a reduction process that activates the Raku Glazes. Always different and Exciting! Because of tge extreme firing they are not considered functional pieces.
