More than half of Nova Scotians could unlock brighter futures through improved literacy, and a staggering 58% need a boost in their numeracy skills. This year, we’re exploring why literacy is everyone’s business and why it matters now more than ever for Nova Scotia’s future. Our guest speaker, Randy MacMillan, President and CEO of Scotia Investments Limited, leads one of the province’s most prominent privately held holding companies, with investments in businesses that employ people across manufacturing, environmental services, and life sciences.

From this vantage point, Randy sees firsthand how literacy skills affect every level of the workforce, from supporting safety and productivity to enabling innovation and growth. He will share why strong literacy skills are essential not only for individual success, but for building competitive businesses, strengthening our economy, and ensuring social and economic wellbeing across our province.
