Making Rope & Yarn from Fluff

Come get your hands on history!

Join us for an interactive afternoon of fiber arts where kids and their adults can:
-Make your own rope
-Try plying yarn on a real spinning wheel
-Card wool and prepare it for spinning
-Touch and explore natural fibers - wool, flax, yucca, and more

Learn how people in the 1800's turned soft, delicate fiber into strong rope and yarn - strong enough to hold tents, haul gear, and even pull wagons across the country.

See how these same techniques are still used today to make the clothes we wear!

This event may be held at the Fort or in the library, depending on how hot it gets.
