On April 10th Christ Church UCC will host a jazz concert performed by local favorite After Hours. After Hours combines jazz, pop and R&B, and has been performing in the local area for over thirty years. It is a free concert with donations going to the Threads and Treads Organization.
The program titled “Jazz Standards Through the Ages” will feature jazz pieces from each decade, starting in the 1920's with New Orleans Dixieland. We will then move through decades and styles that include the Swing Era (1930-1940's) , Bebop, Hard Bop, Cool Bop, (1050s-1960s) and some 1970's fusion. There will be some discussion between songs to highlight the basics of jazz and note differences between each decade's style. Songs include Take the A Train, Four, Pent Up House, and All Blues.
After Hours is a Central PA musical group that performs a combination of Jazz, Pop and R&B for restaurants, weddings, and receptions. Members include Michael Dobson on keyboards, John Lantz on bass, David Devonshire on drums, and Chris Hynum on saxophone. Chris attends UCC church and is proud of their commitment to the community and feels blessed that his group can support such a great cause.
