Join the festivities at Fort Watauga as the Washington County Militia gathers to celebrate recent victories in the War for Independence and give thanks for a bountiful harvest.  Enjoy demonstrations of 18th century life and living history presentations.

Saturday, November 8th

10:00 – Militia Inspection & Raising of the Colors. Dedication of Liberty Tree.
12:00 – Thanksgiving Proclamation: Assemble with the frontier settlers as the 
1780 Thanksgiving Proclamation is read publicly inside Fort Watauga. 
1:00 – Militia Drill: Witness the Washington Co. Militia train for military action and exhibit 
various firearms of the 18th century.
2:00 – 18th Century Food Preservation: Join Col. Bogart and learn how our ancestors ensured a 
supply of food through the winter months.
4:00 – Fort Watauga Closed 

Sunday, November 9th

10:00 – Worship Service: All are welcome for Sunday morning service held inside Fort 
Watauga.
12:00 – 18th Century Food Preservation: Join Col. Bogart and learn how our ancestors ensured a 
supply of food through the winter months.
1:00 – Militia Drill: Witness the Washington Co. Militia train for military action and exhibit 
various firearms of the 18th century.
2:00 – Veterans Recognition Ceremony: Join us for a special ceremony as we honor the patriots 
who fought at the battle of Kings Mountain and salute our present-day veterans and service members.
3:00 – Retiring of the Colors / Event Closed
